The other day my boss asked me if the search engines crawled each others search results. I told them they probably didn't as another search engine's search results shouldn't be taken into account if the search engine had any faith in itself.
On August 16th, 2005 rustybrick started a thread on SEW that pointed out that MSN was serving up some Ask Jeeves search results. That caught me by surprise. I decided to see if this was happening with the other search engines and decided to create this grid. The left column indicates what search engine the search was performed in, the upper row indicates the search engine the search was looking for.
Yahoo | MSN | Ask | AOL | ||
Google Search Yields | 781 | 1,380 | 65 | 929 | 40,100 |
Yahoo Search Yields | - | 189,000 | 19,500 | 2,140 | 5,080 |
MSN Search Yields | - | 19,800 | 73,295,474 | 60,461 | 9,200 |
ASK Search Yields | - | 135 | 122,600 | 0 | 2 |
AOL Search Yields | 263 | - | - | - | - |

I will update this chart for a cleaner look and links to the actual searches performed.
